Asia Pacific Forum on Energy Utilization of Municipal Domestic Waste for Sustainable Urban Development successfully held

The Asia-Pacific Forum on Energy Use of Municipal Domestic Waste for Sustainable Urban Development was held in Hangzhou International Expo Center on November 13th-16th, 2019, with Prof. Yan Jianhua and Prof. Li Xiaodong as co-chairs.

 




Municipal domestic waste disposal and its energization is a comprehensive issue of science, technology, economics and law, and this forum will focus on sustainable waste energization solutions to explore effective measures for Asia-Pacific economies, especially developing countries, to address today's resource and environmental challenges. China is a world leader in domestic waste recycling and is increasingly taking a leading role. Through this forum, China's experience will provide a useful reference for waste treatment and disposal in Asia-Pacific countries and developing countries around the world.

 

Professor Yan Jianhua, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Nickolas J. Themelis, Member of the American Academy of Engineering, Agamuthu Pariatamby, Member of the Malaysian Academy of Sciences, Masaki Takaoka, Professor of Kyoto University, Dalson Chung, Director of Singapore Environmental Protection Agency, and many other famous scholars from home and abroad delivered keynote speeches and Invited presentations.

 

Supported by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the forum was hosted by Zhejiang University and co-organized by Zhejiang University of Technology. More than 100 experts and scholars in related fields from 20 countries, including China, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Finland, Malaysia, India and Indonesia, participated in the forum. The forum lasted for three days, with thirteen theme reports, thirteen session reports and one roundtable conference.
