Recently, according to the notification of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Royal Society of UK, Professor Zheng Bo from the College of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University has been awarded the Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowship for 2020. This is the first scholar in the College of Energy Engineering to be awarded this grant.
The Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowship is an international talent program jointly funded by the Royal Society, the Academy of Medical Sciences in British and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The applicant must be a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars or the Excellent Young Scientists Fund. The fund enjoys a high reputation internationally. In 2020, after an open call, international review, and joint consultation, 25 applications were approved out of 118 applications accepted.
Professor Zheng Bo received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Zhejiang University in 2003 and 2008, respectively, and went to the U.S. for postdoctoral research from 2009 to 2011, after which he returned to Zhejiang University to teach. He is now the Vice Dean of the State Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization, and his current research focuses on nanoscale heat and mass transport and related nanomaterial-based energy and environmental applications.
